THE PROJECT GOALS

  • Design that reflects greenery and fuel

Since the site is about going green and preserving fuel, the design needed to reflect these themes. The company’s tagline “Save fuel, save earth, save money” must come across clearly in the look and feel of the site.

  • User and SEO friendly CMS

The CMS of the site had to be user-friendly and SEO-friendly, as the site seeks to spread environmental awareness which requires it to be visible on the web. Also, the CMS should make it easy for the admins to add new posts to the site and update the existing content as required.

  • Responsive Web Design

Today, the world of technology has moved on from laptops and desktops onto tablets and smartphones. Hence, the site must adapt to all platforms and provide a consistently straightforward, clean interface regardless of the user’s device.

  • Return of Investment

Chlorofuel sells fuel-efficient technologies, which claim to reduce fuel consumption and save money. Hence, the client wanted to show customers how long it would take for them to get a return of investment on these products. This required a combination of some backend calculation and front-end interface design.

THE CHALLENGES

The design-based challenge was to give the site an eco-friendly feel to reflect the main theme of the company. Plus, the design had to be simple, clean and responsive across all platforms. Moreover, the site had to be SEO-friendly so that it is visible across search engines. Finally, the return on investment page had to be easy to use and speedy.

THE SOLUTIONS

First, we designed a simple prototype wireframe to get the client’s feedback. Once it was approved, we went on to design the site and code the backend. The design of the site primarily uses green and orange to reflect eco-friendliness and fuel efficiency. Moreover, to make the site rank well on search engines, we used WordPress which is known for being the best SEO-friendly CMS. The return on investment page is robust, easy to use, and displays results in a matter of seconds.

THE RESULT

Chlorofuel is up and running. The design perfectly highlights the main theme of the site, and is appealing as well as responsive. The thematic green and orange colors used in the design reflect the company’s message very well. Plus, we’ve made it extremely easy for the admins to optimise the site for search engines. The return on investment page is also fully functional and easy to customise.

Technology used in the project

The first step was to choose which CMS to use. Since we’re extremely familiar with WordPress, we used it to handle the basic content management of the site. Then, we designed the site making sure that every component of the site fit in well with the theme of the company. Here’s a quick rundown of the technologies we used.

  • Responsive Design

In order to make sure that the site looked good regardless of the device – be it a laptop, tablet or smartphone – we used various techniques to make the site fully responsive. The Bootstrap framework was especially useful in this endeavour.

  • SEO friendly CMS

At Codewing, we use WordPress whenever possible. First and foremost, it’s a very robust and user-friendly Content Management System that is extremely popular and constantly evolving. Moreover, it is fantastically SEO-friendly as well. What more could one ask from a CMS?

  • Google Analytics

We used Google Analytics to track the traffic being received by the site. This tool allows the admins of the site to monitor various statistics about the traffic coming in. Consequently, they can assess the effectiveness of SEO campaigns and also decide future business models based on these numbers and graphs.
