THE PROJECT GOALS

  • Clean and attractive Design

Since Bungalow5 is a blog on décor and design, the store must reflect these themes via its design. Hence, giving the online store a clean, thematic and attractive design was a major part of the project.

  • Responsive design

Since a lot of users may access the store on their smartphone or tablet, it was necessary to make the site fully responsive across all the platforms. We used Bootstrap to achieve this in an easy and efficient manner.

  • Easy and User friendly product management System

The product management system and admin dashboard must be robust and easy to use. This was achieved using the Woocommerce plugin with WordPress.

  • Online Payment

Since the main payment method for the new Bungalow5 store was going to be Paypal, we integrated it into the site. We made it very easy for users to make payments using their Paypal accounts.

THE CHALLENGES

The store posed challenges in the frontend as well as the backend. The frontend was more of a creative challenge than a technical one because it needed to be designed in accordance with the theme of the blog which itself deals with décor and design. Moreover, the store needed to be fully responsive across all platforms. The main challenge in the backend was to make the product management system user-friendly, easy to manage and robust

THE SOLUTIONS

The first step was the choice of the CMS. We went for the Woocommerce plugin of WordPress because it is a solid plugin and we’re extremely familiar with it. Moreover, the design is completely responsive and is in full harmony with the overall theme of the site. Finally, the admin dashboard provides extensive functionalities, yet is very easy to use.

THE RESULT

Bungalow5 store is now up and running. The site has a classy look and feel which reflects its objectives very well. The interface is very easy to use for clients as well as admins. We’ve made sure that the management of products on the site is simple, yet robust and secure.

Technology Used in the Project

We used the Woocommerce plugin, with WordPress as the primary CMS. Of course, we had to customize the code to fit our objectives perfectly, but Woocommerce made our jobs a lot easier.

  • Responsive design/Bootstrap

Like many other projects at Codewing, Bungalow5 owes its responsiveness and clean design to Bootstrap. The store is fully responsive and provides a consistently straightforward, clean interface regardless of the user’s device.

  • WordPress/WooCommerce

Woocommerce is a WordPress plugin that allows us to conveniently turn a simple WordPress site into a fully functioning online store. Moreover, the plugin provides added security and scalability to the store.

  • Google Analytics

We used Google Analytics to track the activities of customers on Bungalow5. This tool allows the admins of the site to monitor various statistics about the traffic coming in. Consequently, they can decide future business models based on these numbers and graphs.

  • Payment Gateway – Paypal

Paypal is the most common payment gateway for ecommerce. It’s used worldwide and is extremely convenient as well as secure. We’ve integrated it into the site so that users can use their Paypal accounts to make payments.
